Transition Bags & Suits FAQs
When should I stop swaddling my baby and when should I switch?
Regardless of which swaddling method you use, you must stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of rolling over on their own. At this point you will need to transition your baby from swaddling to "arms free" sleeping. Your baby's arms should not be restricted when he or she is able to roll over - this advice applies to any form of swaddling you use. At this point your baby's startle reflex should have subsided. The Swaddle Up '™ transitional swaddling bag/suit is one Great way to prepare your baby for the transition from swaddling to "arm-free" independent sleep.
Why Transition Bags/Suits
As soon as a baby shows signs of rolling, parents need to stop swaddling and transition their baby to "arm-free" sleep. Our transitional swaddling bag or suit is the easiest solution to transition a baby from swaddling to "arm-free" sleeping - all while maintaining their beloved sleep routine.
What's the easiest way to get my baby used to it?
If your baby hasn't shown any signs of rolling yet, you can simply let them sleep in the Swaddle Up™ transitional swaddle/suit until they show signs of trying to roll over. As soon as he shows signs of trying to roll over, you need to stop swaddling your baby and reacquaint him. Start with one Arms Up wing and remove the other. Once your baby has adjusted to this routine after a few nights, remove the other Arms Up wing and start bedtime with arms free. For some babies the transition only takes a few nights, for others it can take a few weeks.
What is a TOG value?
At Love to Dream, we believe that the easiest way to properly dress your baby is to follow the room temperature. That's why we use the industry-recognized TOG system. TOG stands for "Thermal Overall Grade" - a globally recognized measure for determining the thermal insulation of fabrics. It helps make it easier to choose the right sleepwear for your baby. To ensure your baby is optimally dressed for different room temperatures, follow these two simple steps: Determine the room temperature: Before choosing a Love to Dream product, we recommend knowing the temperature in your baby's room well. Follow the TOG recommendation: Our products and our website offer clear guidance on the ideal room temperature so that you can make the right choice. This means your baby always stays at the optimal temperature for a safe and restful sleep.
Which size should I purchase for the Swaddle Up™ transitional swaddle bag/suit?
For an optimal fit, please choose the Swaddle Up ™ size based on your child's weight and not the age. The Swaddle Up ™ transitional swaddle bag/suit range is available in three sizes: Medium (suitable for 6-8.5kg), Large (suitable for 8.5-11kg) and X-Large (suitable for 11-14kg).
How many Swaddle Up ™ transition swaddles/suits should I buy?
We recommend that you purchase at least two in the appropriate size. If you have two, one can be in the laundry while your baby carries the other. It might even be helpful to have a third pair on hand to use in emergencies
