Clothing guide
Our goal at LOVE TO DREAM is to help parents choose the right products from our range that best suit their children's needs. Every baby experiences heat and cold differently, ambient temperatures vary, and different combinations of clothing and pajama layers vary in their thermal effectiveness. These factors make it difficult to give a general recommendation to parents and carers. We have developed a temperature-based rating in 5 key categories to help parents and carers choose the right clothing:Products with a warm temperature rating are ideal for room temperatures of 24-27°C. Our "light" summer clothing is best suited for this temperature range. Products with a moderate temperature class are ideal for room temperatures of 20-24°C. Our "moderate" garments are best suited for this temperature range. Products with a mild temperature rating are ideal for room temperatures between 18-24°C. Our "mild" clothing is best suited for this temperature range. Products with a cool temperature rating are ideal for room temperatures between 16-20°C. Our "warm" winter clothing is best suited for this temperature range. Products with a cold temperature value are ideal for room temperatures below 16°C. Our "extra warm" winter clothing is best suited for this temperature range. The table is just a guide. All babies are different. The number of layers of clothing may vary depending on the baby's health, his physiology and the room temperature in the room. The caregiver must decide what is appropriate. We recommend that caregivers always monitor the temperature of the room and the child's well-being. It is important to check your baby regularly to ensure that he or she is comfortable and not overheating. The table below provides guidelines for clothing your baby/toddler depending on the room temperature.

LEVEL 1: SWADDLE UP™ PUCK BAG
Why SWADDLE UP™?
Medical research suggests that swaddling helps newborns sleep better. Swaddling a baby can calm his “startle reflex,” which wakes him up and disrupts his sleep. Our patented, award-winning SWADDLE UP™ helps baby calm down quickly and develop a peaceful sleep routine. Importantly, there is no longer a need for loose blankets in the crib, increasing safety for babies. Unlike traditional swaddles that keep baby's arms at the side or across the chest, our SWADDLE UP's unique ARMS UP™ design has been patented Wings that allow baby to sleep in their natural ARMS UP™ position. This means your baby can easily touch their face and suck their hands and fingers for true SELF-SOOTHING.
What does SELF-SOOTHING mean?
A natural way babies fall asleep is by sucking their hands or gently rubbing their cheeks. This is called SELF-SOOTHING™. Hand sucking can also help develop oral muscles that aid in feeding, speech development & their natural rooting reflex.¬†SWADDLE UP™ is designed to help babies safely suck their hands to promote SELF-SOOTHING™ get.SELF-COOLING = MORE SLEEP
Why ARMS UP™?
SWADDLE UP™ is specifically designed to allow your baby to sleep in a natural ARMS UP™ position. So, while sleeping, he may bring his hands to his mouth to calm himself down, leading to more sleep for everyone.
Can my baby use the LOVE TO DREAM SWADDLE UP™ from day one?
Yes, this is indeed the best time to start. If your baby weighs between 2.2-3.8 kg at birth, please choose the SWADDLE UP™ in newborn size. If your baby weighs between 3.5-6 kg at birth, please choose the SWADDLE UP™ in size small. Although there is some size transition, we strongly recommend that you do not move to size small until your baby has reached the upper limit of size newborn. Using a SWADDLE UP™ or a garment that is too large for your baby can be dangerous for your baby as excess fabric can pose a hazard. https://youtu.be/9cqha3C3nH8
Is the SWADDLE UP™ healthy for your baby’s hip development?
Our SWADDLE UP PUCK BAG and SWADDLE UP OVERGANG PUCK BAG/SUIT are recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute as a hip-healthy product - their design allows for the recommended flexion of the hips & legs. Your baby's natural, safe sleeping position is a frog-like position with legs spread. The SWADDLE UP™ allows your baby to sleep in this position without restrictions.
Why is the back of the SWADDLE UP™ 2.5 TOG and 3.5 TOG pucks not quilted?
When babies sleep in our SWADDLE UP™ it is important that they lie on their backs to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Since your back rests directly on the mattress or duvet, additional quilting on the back is not necessary. The heat output of the swaddle bag remains unchanged. With our Stage 2 products (transitional swaddle bag & transition suit) things are different: As soon as babies can turn on their stomachs independently, the back is also quilted to ensure an even Ensure heat distribution. The same applies to our Stage 3 products, such as the LOVE TO DREAM SLEEP SUIT™.
Can my baby carry the SWADDLE UP™ swaddle bag in the baby seat or car seat?
The travel slot was always intended for use in a stroller. It was not intended for use with car seats, baby pods or booster seats as it is not safe to swaddle your child in any way while using them. We take safety very seriously and because it has been brought to our attention that some parents are unknowingly using the Travel Slot in an unsafe manner, we have decided to remove it completely from the SWADDLE UP™ products to avoid any confusion. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact our customer service: customercare.de@lovetodream.com
Which size should I buy for SWADDLE UP™ SWADDY PACK?
For an optimal fit, please choose the SWADDLE UP™ size based on your child's weight and not their age. The SWADDLE UP™ range is available in four sizes: Newborn (suitable for 2.2-3.8kg/5-8.5lbs), Small (suitable for 3.5-6kg/8-13lbs), Medium (suitable for 6-8.5kg/13-19lbs) & Large (suitable for 8.5-11kg/19-24lbs).
My baby is growing so fast. Can I just buy a larger size of the SWADDLE UP™ & let it grow into it?
As tempting as it may be to buy a bigger size, the answer is unfortunately no. It is very important that you always buy the correct size SWADDLE UP™¬†based on his current weight. If you use a ¬†SWADDLE UP™¬†that is too big for your baby, the neckline may be too loose, which can be potentially dangerous.
My baby's legs touch the bottom of the garment - should I choose the next size up?
If your baby's legs touch the bottom of the SWADDLE UP™ but the fit on the body is correct, then continue using this Swaddle UP™. It's not too short! The length of the pouch has been specifically designed to be slightly shorter to allow your baby - as they grow - to press against the bottom of the pouch. This squeezing and feeling of the “ends” of the bag contribute to further SELF-SOOTHING™.
How many SWADDLE UPs do I need?
We recommend that you purchase at least two SWADDLE UPs in the appropriate size. If you have two, one can be in the laundry while your baby carries the other. It might even be helpful to have a third one on hand for emergencies!
How do I care for the SWADDLE UP™ range?
Wash before first use. Close zippers before washing. Warm, gentle machine wash in a wash bag with similar colors. Do not soak. Do not bleach. Tumble dry on a low setting (for warm items: tumble dry on the inside on a second pass for faster drying). If necessary, iron warm. Do not iron the zipper. Do not dry clean. Wash immediately after each use.
Is it unhygienic for my baby to suck his hands when they are covered with the SWADDLE UP™?¬†
The SWADDLE UP™ is unique because it allows your baby access to their hands for self-soothing. Some babies love to suck their hands while falling asleep - unfortunately this means that the "wings" of the item can get a little wet. Parents should wash any item of clothing - whether a swaddle or sling - after use if it is dirty. This also applies to the LOVE TO DREAM SWADDLE UP™. We recommend purchasing more than one so you always have a clean SWADDLE UP™ while one is in the wash.
Is it safe to place a blanket over the SWADDLE UP™?
We recommend that it is safest to avoid all loose blankets in the crib and instead add additional layers under your SWADDLE UP™. Please see our guide to dressing your baby.¬†If you decide to use a blanket, it is important to follow Red Nose's guidelines regarding the use of blankets in the cot:¬†https://rednose.org.au/article/what-is-a-safe-sleeping-environment.We recommend that it is safest to avoid all loose blankets in the crib and instead place additional layers under the SWADDLE UP™.It is recommended that you follow First Candle's guidelines regarding the use of blankets in a crib. Don't put anything soft, loose, or fluffy in your baby's sleeping area. This includes pillows, blankets, comforters, soft or pillow-like pillows, stuffed animals, and other soft items. Instead of blankets, use a sleep sack or other type of sleeping bag to keep your baby warm and safe. (Source: First Candle, "Lifesaving Safe Sleep Practices")
Is it safe to use a sleeping bag over the SWADDLE UP™?
It is not recommended to place a sleeping bag over a wrap or sheet.

STAGE 2: TRANSITION
Why TRANSITION BAG/SUIT?
As soon as a baby shows signs of rolling, parents need to stop swaddling and switch their baby to an "arm-free" sleep. Our TRANSITION BAGS or SUIT is the simplest solution to transitioning a baby from swaddling to "arm-free" sleep - all while maintaining their beloved sleep routine.
When should I stop diapering my baby and transition?
Regardless of which swaddling method you use, you must stop swaddling your baby as soon as he shows signs of being able to roll over on his own. At this point you need to transition your baby from swaddling to arm-free sleep. Your baby's arms should not be restricted when he or she can roll over - this advice applies to any form of swaddling you use. By this point, your baby's startle reflex should have subsided. The SWADDLE UP'™ TRANSLATION SWISSBAG/SUIT is a great way to prepare your baby for the transition from swaddled to "arm-free", independent sleep.
What's the easiest way to get my baby used to it?
If your baby isn't showing any signs of rolling yet, you can simply let them sleep in the SWADDLE UP™ SHIPPING BAGS/SUIT until they show signs of rolling. As soon as he shows signs of trying to roll over, you must stop swaddling your baby and change him. Start with an ARMS UP‚™ wing and a SELF-SOOTHING‚™ arm (with the cuff folded over).¬†After a few nights your baby has become accustomed to this routine, remove the ARMS UP‚™ (ARMS UP) Wings and start bedtime with both zippered SELF-SOOTHING, ™ SLEEVES (with folded cuffs). Once your baby has gotten used to the routine, you can open the cuffs so they can actually sleep without arms. For some babies, the transition only takes a few nights, for others it can take a few weeks. The SWADDLE UP‚™ úTRANSITION SUIT with SELF-SOOTHING‚™ (SELF-SOOOTHING) ™ SLEEVES is particularly helpful for babies who have difficulty transitioning from swaddling to arm-free sleeping.
How long will my baby's TRANSITION take?
Every baby is different - for some it only takes a few days to get used to it, for others it takes a little longer. It may be helpful to begin transitioning your baby to sleep during the day. Or wait until your baby is asleep before removing a "wing" from your SWADDLE UP™ TRANSITION BAG/SUIT for the first time.
Is the SWADDLE UP‚™ úTRANSMISSION BAGS/SUIT healthy for your baby's hip development?
Our SWADDLE UP‚™ and SWADDLE UP‚™ TRANSITIONG BAG/SUIT are recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute as a hip-healthy product - their design allows for the recommended flexion of the hips & legs. Your baby's natural, safe sleeping position is a frog-like position with legs spread. The SWADDLE UP‚™ úTRANSMISSION BAGS & SUIT allows your baby to sleep in this position without restrictions.
Which size of SWADDLE UP‚™ úBERGANGSPÜBBAG/SUIT should I buy?
For an optimal fit, please choose the size of your SWADDLE UP‚™ úMOUNTAIN SPUCKBAG/SUIT based on your child's weight and not the age Sizes available: Medium (suitable for 6-8.5kg/13-19lbs), Large (suitable for 8.5-11kg/19-24lbs) & X-Large (suitable for 11-14kg/24-31lbs).
Why are there so few options for X-size transitio bags and suits?
Due to lower demand for transitional pucks and suits in the X-Large size (11-14kg/24-31lbs), we only produce X-Large items in a handful of prints. Alternatively, consider a sleeping bag or suit from our On-The-Move range, which is suitable for babies and toddlers aged 6 months to 4 years.
How many SWADDLE UP‚™ úBERGANGSPUCKSÑCKETS/SUITS do I need?
We recommend that you purchase at least two SWADDLE UP‚™ úBERGANGSPUCKSÑSKIRT/SUITúGE in the appropriate size. If you have two, one can be washed while your baby carries the other. It might even be helpful to have a third one on hand in case of emergencies!
My baby used SWADDLE UP™. Should I buy the SWADDLE UP™transition bag or transition suit?
You can choose both! The SWADDLE UP‚™ úBERGANGSPÜBBAG is a "3-in-1" solution that converts from a swaddle to a transition bag to a sleeping bag once both wings are removed. The SWADDLE UP‚™ úBERANGANGSUIT is a "5-in-1" solution that can be used as a swaddle suit, transition suit, sheep suit, playsuit and travel suit in ONE.
My baby was swaddled arms down - which transition product should I buy?
You can try both! The SWADDLE UP Transition Bag or Suit.
Can I use the SWADDLE UP‚™ úOVERSUIT if my baby has been swaddled arms down?
Absolutely. The SWADDLE UP‚™ úTRANSITION SUIT has been specifically designed to help all babies transition to sleeping without arms, whether they have been swaddled with their arms up or down. As a "5-in-1" transition suit, it is the most versatile transition suit available today.
Why do the SELF-SOOTHING‚™ ÑRMEL seem too short? Is that right?
The SWADDLE UP's SELF-SOOTHING SLEEVES are specifically designed to be slightly too short for your baby's arms so that when the cuffs are folded over and he tries to fully extend his arms, Feel the edges of the fabric and press against them. This provides a feeling of security and comfort and allows baby to self-soothe without scratching their delicate skin.
