Swaddle FAQs
Why Swaddle Up™?
Medical research suggests that swaddling helps newborns sleep better. Swaddling a baby can calm his "startle reflex," which wakes him up and disrupts his sleep. Our patented, award-winning Swaddle Up™ helps baby calm down quickly and develop a peaceful sleep routine. Importantly, loose blankets are no longer needed in the cot, which increases safety for babies. Unlike traditional swaddles, where the baby's arms are held at the side or above the chest, our Swaddle Up has patented swaddles Wings that allow baby to sleep in their natural arm position. This means your baby can lightly touch his face and suck his hands and fingers to calm himself.
What is self-soothing?
A natural way babies fall asleep is by sucking their hands or gently rubbing their cheeks. This is called self-soothing. Hand sucking can also contribute to the development of oral muscles, which in turn promotes food intake, language development and the natural search reflex. Swaddle Up™ is designed so babies can safely suck on their hands to soothe themselves. SELF-COOTHING = MORE SLEEP
Why arms up?
Swaddle Up™ has been specially designed to allow your baby to sleep in the natural position with their arms up. This allows him to bring his hands to his mouth for self-soothing during bedtime, which leads to more sleep for everyone.
What is a TOG value?
At Love to Dream, we believe that the easiest way to properly dress your baby is to follow the room temperature. That's why we use the industry-recognized TOG system. TOG stands for "Thermal Overall Grade" - a globally recognized measure for determining the thermal insulation of fabrics. It helps make it easier to choose the right sleepwear for your baby. To ensure your baby is optimally dressed for different room temperatures, follow these two simple steps: Determine the room temperature: Before choosing a Love to Dream product, we recommend knowing the temperature in your baby's room well. Follow the TOG recommendation: Our products and our website offer clear guidance on the ideal room temperature so that you can make the right choice. This means your baby always stays at the optimal temperature for a safe and restful sleep.
Which size should I buy for the Swaddle Up™?
For an optimal fit, please choose the Swaddle Up size based on your child's weight and not their age. The Swaddle Up range is available in four sizes: Newborn (suitable for 2.2-3.8kg), Small (suitable for 3.5-6kg), Medium (suitable for 6-8.5kg) and Large (suitable for 8.5-11kg).
How many Swaddle Up pucks do I need?
We recommend that you purchase at least two Swaddle Up pucks in the appropriate size. If you have two, one can be in the laundry while your baby carries the other. It might even be helpful to have a third one on hand to use in emergencies.
